Kite Fishing For Sailfish

Excitement begins as the frantic bait splashes on the surface trying to get away. Then the sailfish appears, swiping at the bait with its bill and finally engulfing it. The rod doubles over and the drag screams as the fish tailwalks across the surface.

Bait Pitching For Sailfish

You’re looking at the cobalt blue face of a wave as you glide slowly down sea. In it there is a 6 foot long shape. You pick up a spinning rod with a live balllyhoo on the end and cast it into the flat water in front of the wave. Suddenly a brilliantly lit up sailfish comes flying out of his wave to pounce upon your ballyhoo. The hook is set and the battle begins.

Night Fishing For Swordfish

The sea is calm as you look up at the billions of stars you can only see offshore at night. Suddenly your attention is drawn to that eerie green glow moving on the water. It is a light stick attached to a float and it is signalling a pick up. You wind down fast to take all the slack out of the line until winding no longer retrieves line. The rod arcs over and the reel clicker announces that the swordfish has just become aware of you, and is not happy about it. The engines fire up, the halogen lights come on, and lines are cleared out of your way as the battle begins.

Winter Shark Fishing – Close To The Beach

The aquamarine water is crystal clear, the white foam breakers are crashing on the beach only a hundred yards off the boat’s stern, and the palm trees are swaying. It is another beautiful, serene day in south Florida. But look down into that beautiful water and notice half a dozen bronze colored sharks milling about behind the boat. They are waiting for you to toss them a bait. It splashes down into the water and the fastest of the pack engulfs it, only to find out the bad news. It races off, first toward the beach, then parallel to it, then out toward open ocean as you hang of for dear life. Will the 20 pound spin outfit be enough? Only if play the fish correctly.

Shark Fishing Florida Style – On The Flats

The water is only three feet deep and the current races by the boat as you stand at the stern poised with either spinner or flyrod, waiting to spot your target. The scent of the barracuda tied to the cleat soon has several sharks closing in. You cast and the ultra keen “hearing” of the shark guides it directly to your lure. It strikes with abandon and then realizes its mistake. In such shallow water diving to safety is not an option, so the shark engages in the next best tactic – racing for the nearest drop off, as fast as it can. Your guide now is poling the flats boat after it so you don’t lose all the line off your reel. Will you win or lose this battle?

Giant Redfish – On The Flats

You’re sitting in oil slick water, barely breathing for fear of alerting the school of redfish working their way toward you. Tension mounts as the v-wake tells you that the school is composed of very large fish. They meander this way and that but finally offer you one shot. The cast is made, the lure lands a few yards in front of them, and the water churns as the leader of the pack races to grab the morsel that moved up ahead. The hook is set and the shallow water explodes as this awesome fish streaks away.

Chokoloskee – A Magic Name In Back Country Fishing

Ten thousand mangrove islands dot the shallow waters of Everglades National Park, and there are at least ten thousand spots to fish in this area. Only top notch guides can navigate into the non-trafficked areas where the next cast might hook a trout, snook, redfish, jack crevalle, snapper, shark, sheepshead, or tarpon. What will grab your lure as it lands inches from a tangle of roots that you just know houses a great lurking gamefish?

Summertime Means Vacation Time And Offshore Action Galore

A very short run offshore and you are in deep, cobalt blue water. The chum bag goes over and maybe even some live chum to stir things up. Shortly an entire school of marauding gamefish shows up behind the boat. Is it those colorful and acrobatic dolphin fish, or a school of bonito (false albacore) waiting to peel every yard of line off your reel if they can? Whichever, you can bet that the action will be non-stop once the school finds out where you are.
